On the day of Polling for Tripura Assembly elections 2023, Jampui Hill, once again, set up an example of unique gesture – thanks to members of the Youth wing of the Mizo Convention in Tripura.
In the run up to the Assembly polls, Jampui Hills created an inimitable instance by forging a cordial relationship with the jawans of the security agencies who came to Jampui Hill to ensure peace in the area during the poll. However, Jampui Hill known for its scenic beauty is also famous for its peaceful and caring population. Security personnel had a wonderful staying in Jampui Hill – there was no chaos or confrontation, but warm hospitality amused the security men.
On February 16 – the day elections for the 60-seat Assembly were held – security personnel had more reasons to fall in love with the Jampui Hill as they remained a witness of a warm hospitality shunning political hostilities – thanks to the Youth wing of the Mizo Convention.
The youth members took up an initiative to make the voting experience more enjoyable and refreshing. So, they made arrangement for distributing tea and soft drinks to all the voters who came to cast their votes. The unique initiative received appreciation from the voters
By distributing tea among the voters, they were able to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at the polling booths. This act not only made the voters feel valued but also helped in building a positive relationship between the voters, opined one of the woman voters.
An elderly voter sighted relief as he was sipping tea after casting his vote. “It’s an amazing experience to have cup of tea now. It’s not just a peaceful polling here, it’s a refreshing one also”, he said.
Eminent physician of Jampui Hill, Zairemthiama Pachuau said it is a great example of how small acts of kindness can go a long way in making a positive impact on people’s lives. Applauding the initiative, Dr Pachuau called upon people to take part in the democracy and nation building by spreading love.
