Trinamool Congress candidate for by-polls to Jubarajnagar seat (Tripura) – Dr. Mrinal Kanti Debath on Saturday filed his nomination followed by a rally in presence of Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev.

The TMC candidate along with other leaders visited Maa Kaali temple to offer their prayers. Despite heavy rainfall, hundreds of Trinamool Congress workers joined the rally with the slogan “Khela Hobe”.

A press release quoted Debnath as saying, “There is no doubt that Trinamool Congress cares about the people of Tripura. We are constantly working towards liberating people from BJP’s misgovernance and ensuring justice.”

“Amid years of Left’s maladministration, Congress failed to be a credible Opposition and only divided the votes which only helped the Left to retain power time and again. Trinamool Congress wants to go out of this pattern and become the voice of the people. We want to fix Tripura’s broken system of education and health along with the employment sector and work for the development of the people,” he told reporters at the SDM office.

The press release also quoted Sushmita Dev as saying, “The political situation in Tripura is such that BJP had to remove a sitting chief minister ahead of Assembly elections. This shows that even BJP understood that their acceptability had gone down and people wanted a change. Tripura’s people want an alternative and they want a powerful leader who can work for them. Trinamool is that alternative.”

Dev also blamed the Congress and the CPI-M party and said, “People of this state had seen how these two parties worked when they were in government. The BJP carried out its ‘misrule’ in Tripura due to the silent role of the Congress and the CPI-M”. She urged people to support Trinamool Congress.
