Blood split on Kailashahar Court premises in Tripura as one of the two co-wives of an accused attacked the other.

The incident took place when the 2nd wife of the accused – Abbas Ali who was arrested by Police after he failed to honour Court summons for an alimony related case filed by his first wife – went to secure bail for her jailed husband.

Abbas Ali married Nazma Begum around five years ago and was staying at Irani village in Kailashahar. However, she eloped with another man one year after the marriage. Later, Abbas Ali married one Jahenara Begum. After Abbas remarried, his first wife, Nazma came back to Abbas Ali’s Irani residence and a family dispute erupted.

To end the dispute, Abbas Ali gave away his Irani house to Nazma and went to his Saydarpara under Kumarghat to stay in the parental house of his 2nd wife Jahenara Begum.  Afterwards, Nazma demanded alimony for her maintenance and approached Kailashahar Court. As Abbas Ali ignored repeated Court summons, recently arrest warrant was served and accordingly, Abbas Ali was arrested on Wednesday night from his in-laws’ house at Saydarpara.

On Thursday, Jahenara came to Kailashahar Court to secure bail for Abbas Ali and she was waiting in the veranda. Meantime, Nazma attacked Jahenara with a knife from behind and it was alleged Jahenara stabbed her co-wife, Nazma three times. Soon, Police and other people rushed in and informed the Women Police. Nazmar was arrested.

Jahenara alleged Nazma is a Bangladeshi woman while the latter claimed Jahenara tried to stab Nazma but failed – so she wounded herself and staged a drama. Jahenara lodged a written complaint with Kailashahar Women’s Police Station.
