Tripura Pradesh Congress in-charge Girish Chodnakar launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government in Tripura, accusing it of neglecting the state’s development and welfare. Chodnakar, who is on a two-day visit to the state, addressed a press conference at the Congress headquarters in Agartala on Friday.

He said that the BJP government had failed to address the serious issue of unemployment, lack of work, and poverty in Tripura. He claimed that thousands of posts were lying vacant in various government departments, while qualified youths were sitting idle and hopeless. He also alleged that the BJP government was silent on the plight of farmers, poor, and working class people, who were facing the brunt of rising prices of essential commodities.

Chodnakar also raised the issue of alleged child selling in Tripura, saying that it was a result of the extreme poverty and distress caused by the BJP government’s policies. He demanded that the central government and the Prime Minister should send a team for an immediate investigation into the child selling cases and take action against the culprits.

He further said that the Congress would include issues such as law and order, corruption, inflation, women’s safety, and others in its election manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He said that the Congress would offer a better alternative to the people of Tripura, who were fed up with the BJP’s misrule.

He also clarified that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would visit Tripura soon, and would interact with the people of Tripura and listen to their grievances.

The press conference was attended by Tripura Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha, Congress MLA and permanent invitee member of CWC Sudip Roy Barman, Congress MLA and former PCC president Gopal Roy, former State Congress president Brijit Sinha, and other party leaders and workers.
