“The outbreak of Covid-19 has left the terminated 10,323 teachers in a helpless situation. Their economic condition is deteriorating day by day and the government must take proper steps to facilitate them with alternative livelihood options”, said Das.

The state’s economy was not good ever since the new government came to power in 2018 due to wrong policies. The situation has worsened due to Covid pandemic. The pandemic has dealt a serious blow to the people engaged in the unorganized sector and financial condition of people are in dire condition, alleged CPI(M)’s state secretary Gautam Das.

Das was addressing a press conference on the outcome of the party state committee meeting held Thursday. ”The state’s situation is very grave when it comes to the economic front and law and order during the past 32 month of the BJP-IPFT government. An average of 14/15 mandays have been generated under MNREGA till November 9 creating serious economic crisis in the rural areas”, he said.

Das also came down heavily on ruling BJP-IPFT and said, the Government has failed to rein in skyrocketing of commodity prices in the market. He said, while poor economic condition and Covid pandemic have already put people in distress, unabated price rise has added more woes.

Continuing his tirade against the BJP-IPFT, Das alleged, the incumbent government has demonstrated inhuman attitude in case of providing pensions under various social schemes. In this context, Das demanded that names of social pension beneficiaries that were deleted or deprived must be re-included in the list and help those people.
