Opposition Party in Tripura, CPI-M accused ruling BJP of dishonoring the dignity and status of the President during her two-day State visit. According to the CPM State secretary Jitendra Chowdhury, in an attempt to hide failure of the incumbent BJP-led State government and deceive people, the ruling party let the President to inaugurate/lay foundation stone of the old projects.

Addressing a press conference, soon after President Droupadi Murmu left Agartala for Guwahati on Thursday, Chowdhury trained guns at BJP and alleged, the ruling party in a shameless manner misused the rank of country’s highest post – the President. Referring to the two roads for which the President laid foundation stone, Chowdhury claimed that the roads were constructed during the previous Left Regime.

He also criticized the government for inaugurating extension of two existing train service by the President. These projects are not meant to be inaugurated/laid foundation stone by someone like the President, Chowdhury claimed and added, it is a matter of concern that the high-ranking personality like President was shown dishonor.

The CPI-M State secretary said, “People of this state would have been happy if the President would inaugurate or lay foundation stones for some new projects or flag off some new trains from Agartala.  Instead, the BJP, which failed to start or bring any big new project to state during the last four and half years since 2018, misused the rank of the President for the sake vote bank politics.”

In his press conference, Jitendra Chowdhury also blamed the ruling BJP for lack of job, lack of recruitment, exuberant price hike, deteriorating law & order condition and collapse of education, health and drinking water supply systems.

“In view of BJP’s total failure and people’s increasing plight, the Left Front has already conducted around 175-180 rallies in different parts of the State. In cumulative total, more than one lakh people took part in these rallies braving the intimidation and attacks on the party workers by miscreants”, Chowdhury said and added, “The Party has decided to hold a state-level rally at Swami Vivekananada Maidan in Agartala on October 21 next in an attempt to sound a wake up call on behalf of the people who are in dire situation owing to BJP’s failure”.
