In the wake of a recent clash over land occupation between the Minority community and indigenous community, State secretary of CPIM in Tripura Jiten Choudhury visited Raiabari under Gomati District on Friday.  During his visit, Choudhury implicated BJP MLA Rampada Jamatia for attacks on the minority people.

Raiabari came to the limelight after local indigenous people alleged that minority community people were living in their forest patta land. After a violent clash, the administration intervened and directed the minority community to vacate the patta lands. The decision did not go down well and many of the minority community people turned a blind eye to the order of the administration.

Close on the heels of this clash, CPIM took the side of the minority people. According to CPIM leaders, the attack was a part saffron party’s planned attack on the minority community people.

Jiten Choudhury, during his visit to Raiabari interacted with the minority people and decried the ‘Sabka Satha Sabka Vikas’ slogan of the BJP government, citing its consistent assault on minorities across Tripura, particularly in Raiabari.

He recounted three harrowing attacks on the families and accused the government of subjecting Raiabari minority people to torment, rendering them homeless by setting their homes ablaze. He alleged all these are happening under the guise of land acquisition.

Choudhury said the minority families are living in the area for quite a long time and had previously endured insurgent assaults during Tripura’s period of militancy.

The CPIM secretary pointed fingers at MLA Rampada Jamatia and BJP leader Patal Kanya Jamatia, alleging their involvement in the attacks targeting innocent minority families, branding it an attempt to seize their land unlawfully.

Choudhury urged the minority people of the area to be united and he implored them to rally against the assaults. He vowed the party’s support, affirming their commitment to championing the rights of these affected families.
