CPM state secretary of Tripura Jitendra Choudhury accused the state Law Minister Ratatn Lal Nath on Thursday of instigating violence against the CPM party workers and supporters in the constituency before ensuing elections. Nath is also the sitting MLA from Mohanour assembly constituency.
The allegation had been raised when a delegation of the opposition CPI-M led by Jiten Choudhury, that included party leader Ratan Das and others visited the residences of the party workers and supporters at Mohanpur assembly constituency, who had been attacked allegedly by the BJP backed motorbike-borne miscreants on May 31 last.
Choudhury alleged, “Just as the elections are drawing near the motorbike-borne BJP miscreants under the instigation of the party leaders started attacking our party leaders and supporters. Our party workers and supporters are being restricted from taking part in the CPI-M events and are being asked to join the BJP.”
“A large number of motorbike-borne BJP goons had attacked many of our party workers on May 31 last at Mohanpur assembly constituency and their houses were damaged. The goons even threatened them of dire consequences unless our party workers join the BJP,” Choudhury alleged.
