The Tripura Cricket Association elections completed on Thursday. In the poll, 28 out of 33 total voters cast their votes. The representatives of Kailashahar, Ambassa and Kanchanpur, i.e. 3 voters, had already lost their validity. Out of the 30 valid voters, the representative of the Shantirbazar sub-division and the a representative of the life members abstained from voting.

The election was conducted as per the directive of the High Court of Tripura under the supervision of the High Court appointed Electoral Officer Kishore Ambuli.

Tapan Lodh, the candidate for the post of president, defeated his nearest rival, Amit Rakshit, by a margin of 23-5 votes. Upannanda Debbarma was elected unopposed as vice-president, Subrata Dey as secretary and Jayanta Dey as joint secretary. In the treasurer’s post, Basudeb Chakraborty defeated his nearest rival and the treasurer of the outgoing committee, Jaylal Das, by 23-5 votes. In the councilor’s post, Soumitra Gope defeated his nearest rival Tapan Chowdhury by 23-5 votes.

Today, the newly elected committee took over the charge of Tripura Cricket Association from the Committee of Administrators as directed by the High Court. On the other hand, the general body of Tripura Cricket Association organized a meeting and arrived at some decisions today.

The newly elected president of Tripura Cricket Association, Tapan Lodh, gave details at a press conference held at the conference hall of Tripura Cricket Association today. During the question-and-answer session with the journalists, he said that the income-expenditure statement of the outgoing committee was kept pending without approval due to the controversy. He said that it has not been approved yet.

The newly elected committee will take over the overall responsibility of Tripura Cricket Association for the next three years as per the constitution of Tripura Cricket Association. At the press conference, the newly elected secretary, Subrata Dey, sought the cooperation of all concerned, including the media, for the development and expansion of state cricket.
