In a tragic road accident, Dr Debashish Danda,  a distinguished son of Tripura and renowned doctor died on Vallore-Bangalore Highway on Saturday. 

He had been working for a long time in the Rheumatology department of Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore. 

Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha expressed grief at the tragic death of Dr Danda. 

In a social media post Dr Saha wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the death of this esteemed doctor of the state. In this sorrowful situation, I extend my deepest condolences to his bereaved family and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Om Peace.”

Dr Danda hailed Manu Bazar in Sabroom under the South Tripura District. He passed his Higher Secondary Examination from Ramesh School in Udaipur under Gomati District in Tripura. After completing his MBBS, MD in Medicine, Dr Danda did his super speciality in Rheumatology and he became one of the globally famous Rheumatologists.

He became the president of Indian Rheumatology Society and also the president of International  forum.

Dr Danda was closely associated with Association of Physicians of India, Tripura State Branch. He has delivered many  lectures in Tripura and participated in many camps.

His admirers were countless throughout his professional life. Several other leaders, Medical fraternity and individuals condoled his death.

As the report of his death reached his native village, a pall of gloom descended.
