Tripura Bio-Technology Council organized a workshop for selected school Head master and in-charges relating to ‘ DNA Club’ scheme implementation. Chairman of the Council, also Deputy Chief Minister of the State, Jishnu Dev Varman inaugurated the workshop in Agartala on Tuesday (July 12).
In an attempt to harness excellence in Science and Bio-diversity among the School students of the State, the Tripura Bio-Technology Council is working on implementation of ‘DNA Club’ scheme.
Already the scheme was implemented in 52 Schools of the State. Fresh 30 schools were included in 2022-23 for implementation of the scheme. The workshop was held with the newly included schools.
According to the guidelines of the ‘DNA Club’ scheme, financial and technical assistances are being provided to the ‘DNA Club’ member schools for purchasing laboratory equipments, conducting Science related practicals, arranging quizzes and lectures on bio diversity as well as holding educational tours at bio diversity spots.
Under the scheme, different types of microscopes, chemical balance, Herbenium Cabinet, lab models and other equipments are provided.
Practicals are being conducted on 20 tests including blood sample tests, glucose in urine sample, paper recycling, generation electricity from lemon, mushroom cultivation and plantations of medicinal plants etc.
As per the rule of the scheme, one science teacher of each of the selected school will be in-charge of implementation of the scheme while the Tripura Bio-Technology Council will provide trainings nd technical assistances.
In a press release, the Council claimed that introduction of the scheme has encouraged students to attend schools and generated attraction for studying science.
In today’s workshop, in the first phase a total of Rs 15 Lakh was handed over to Head masters and in-charges of 12 schools out of the 30 newly inducted Club’ member schools – each of the 12 schools received Rs 1.25 lakh in first phase.
Among others, secretary of the Tripura Bio-Technology Council Dr Pradip Chakraborty, IAS, Member secretary of the Council, Animesh Das, IAS, Prof of Bio diversity of Tripura Central University, Dr Sabyasachi Dasgupta were also present in the workshop.
Experts of the Council provided trainings in the workshop today.
