This operation brought adulations from all quarters of the society. After that remarkable achievement a team of more than 10 doctors achieved another feet of success.
The 10-year old girl of Kachigang area in Killa hails from a financially weak family. She experienced abdominal bloating which remained unabated and caused huge discomfort. She could not intake food in adequate quantity resulting weight loss.
After diagnostic tests, a large tumor was found in her ovary. As the tumor continued to swell, she was even unable to lie down on bed properly. She was taken to Tripura Medical College and Dr B R Ambedkar Hospital from where she was shifted to GBP Hospital. Meanwhile, for conducting an echocardiography, she was sent to IGM under the supervision of Pediatric specialist Dr Gopa Chatterjee.
As the report of the echocardiography was satisfactory, doctors decided to perform surgery on her in first week of December.
Led by Gynecologist Dr Jahar Lal Baidya a team including anesthetist Dr Anupam Chakraborty, eight other doctors, nurses and technicians conducted an hour-long surgery and removed a 10.5 kg weighted tumor. Even after removing the gigantic tumor, surgery continued to save her life. Informed sources said, such tumor can be found only in 2.6 girls before their menstruation starts out of one lakh girls – in that sense, the surgery was a critical one. However, doctors of GBP did an excellent job and came out with flying colours. Efficacy and dedication of the medical staff saved the helpless girl and her family members, sources said.
After remaining under medical supervision for several days, the girl was discharged from the hospital on December 21 last.
“We do not have money to take our daughter outside for treatment. We kept our faith on GBP doctors and we are happy that doctors loved up to our expectations. The doctors saved our daughter from an agonizing premature ending”, said the family members of the girl.
