The government of Tripura and its Transport Department are committed to enhancing services for different sections of society throughout the state, said Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during an event at MBB Airport Agartala on Thursday. 

Referring to the safety of passengers, he also underlined the appointment of six Apada Mitra at the Airport. The move will bolster safety and security of the air passengers especially the tourists.

He made the statements as he distributed new uniforms to prepaid auto drivers at the Airport today.

In an effort to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for both local and international travelers, the prepaid auto service has been relaunched at MBB Airport, which stands as one of the busiest airports in the entire northeastern region.

On Thursday, the Minister for Transport and Tourism handed out uniforms to 248 prepaid auto drivers at the airport. 

He emphasized the significance of building amicable relationships with passengers on board, particularly at MBB Airport in Agartala, which is not only the busiest but also one of the most picturesque airports in the Northeast. 

Chowdhury stressed that these interactions would contribute to enhancing the state’s reputation among tourists and citizens from across the country and around the world.

The Transport Minister also announced that uniforms would be provided to all prepaid auto drivers before the Durga Puja festival each year. 

Moreover, he highlighted that advancements in the transportation system would bring tangible improvements to the tourism sector within the state. Additionally, Chowdhury revealed the appointment of six Apada Mitras at the airport to ensure passenger safety.

Looking ahead, the Minister stated that the government plans to facilitate health insurance for prepaid auto drivers in the near future.

U K Chakma, the Director of the Transport Department, shared that nine taxi drivers have also received commercial permits to transport passengers from MBB Airport. The event was attended by various officials, including IGP Soumitra Dhar, DM West Vishal Kumar, SP Traffic Manik Lal Das, Director MBB Airport K C Meena, and others.
