The Tripura government is working with utmost importance to give quality education and develop better educational infrastructure in the state. This step has been taken to make ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath while inaugurating the newly constructed building of the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) at Birchandra Manu in Santirbazar sub-division on Monday (Dec 5). Among others, Union MoS Pratima Bhowmik was also present in the programme.
The Education Minister also laid the foundation stone of Santirbazar H.S School and West Bokafa H.S School in Santirbazar sub-division on the same day.
Both these schools were constructed under the Vidyajyoti scheme and Rs 4 crore 32 lakh 89 thousand 600 was spent on the construction of the DIET building.
Moreover, Rs 6 crore 67 lakh will be spent on the construction of the West Bokafa H.S school building and Rs 8 crore 67 lakh will be spent on the construction of Santirbazar H.S school.
The Education Minister said the present government has given utmost importance to education to develop better human resources. The government has taken several steps for quality education. Total 125 Vidyajyoti schools have been set up in the state to expand quality education. Among them, there are 12 in the South Tripura district.
Now the students of rural areas are also getting placed in the merit list, competing with the students of the urban areas.
The Education Minister said that the government is working for the welfare of the people from all parts of the state. Several steps have been taken to improve the standard of living of the people including the development of a communication system. Government schemes and services are being given to people’s hands through the Prati Ghare Sushason campaign.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice Pratima Bhowmik said that the present government has introduced the NCERT curriculum to promote quality education in the state after coming to power.
Many changes have been made in the education system in the state. The opportunity to study in English medium schools has increased a lot in the districts and sub-divisions of the state. The students of the state are benefiting from this.
MLA Shankar Roy, MLA Pramod Reang, Chairperson of Santirbazar Municipal Council Swapna Baidya and others were present on the occasion. Director of Higher Education Department NC Sharma delivered the welcome address.
