All civilizations across the globe have originated on river banks. The history of the Indus Valley civilization also echoes this fact: cities and towns have developed along riverbanks. Civilizations have been built around rivers. Therefore, it is essential for all of us to protect rivers and their flow, said Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu while participating in the Ganga Puja at the Sonamura Srimantapur International Land Port on the occasion of International Rivers Day.
The Governor visited the Srimantapur Land Port on Sunday and was accorded a guard of honor by BSF jawans upon arrival. Subsequently, he inspected the jetty constructed on the Gomati River in Srimantapur and participated in the Ganga Puja.
During the visit, the Governor met with BGB personnel stationed at the India-Bangladesh border and distributed sweets. He also inspected various departments of the Srimantapur Land Port office. During the inspection, the Governor instructed the In-charge Manager of Srimantapur Land Port, Debashis Nandi, and the DIG of BSF to improve the renovation and security of the land port.
Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended a meeting at the Srimantapur Land Port meeting hall. In the meeting, the Governor was briefed on the functioning of the land port, the movement of citizens of both countries, and other issues.
While interacting with journalists, the Governor emphasized the need to protect the Gomati River from pollution and to maintain cleanliness on both banks of the river. He mentioned that he had participated in the Ganga Puja held on the banks of the Gomati River today on the occasion of World Rivers Day.
The Governor was accompanied by the District Magistrate of Sepahijala district, Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, and the DIG of BSF, Rajiv Agnihotri, during the visit.
