The Tripura Government has decided to provide free coaching to Janajati students of 500 villages and an initiative has been taken to start this facility from August 2022, said Janajati Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia.
“The State government has taken several initiatives for the development of Janajati people. Implementation of many of those initiatives has already started. Now, the Government will provide coaching facilities to Janajati students free of cost in 500 villages of Tripura. For this one teacher in every village would be deputed”, Jamatia said.
The Minister was speaking at programme to inaugurate the Vidyajyoti Scheme – a flagship programme of the Tripura Government – at Sudhanya Debbarma Smriti HS+2 School under Jampui Jala sub-division under Sepahijala District in Tripura on Monday (July 11).
He said several Janajati students go to Delhi for higher studies – in view of this, the Janajati Welfare Department of the State is planning to set up a hostel to provide them accommodation.
Speaking on the occasion, DM of Sepahijala District Viswasree B said, Vidyajyoti Scheme has been started in 11 schools in the district. She also said, a fund worth Rs 1 crore 47 lakh was sanctioned for the Sudhanya Debarma Smriti HS+2 School for augmenting the infrastructure of the school.
MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma highlighted the Government’s initiatives for the overall development of people belonging to Janajati communities. He sought cooperation from all in implementing developmental and welfare schemes.
Among others, Headmaster of the School Dharmacharan Jamatia and SDM of Jampuijala Sanjit Debbarma were present in the programme.
