Tripura Grameen Bank Employees scaled up ante against the induction of Officers with high salaries and allowances from the sponsor bank depriving the eligible local officers of the bank.

Joint development forum of four organizations of Tripura Grameen Bank jointly started agitation programs against Tripura Grameen Bank (TGB) authorities from Monday. The Joint Development Forum has been forced to resort to such agitation program after the bank authorities failed to implement the promises made to the employees and officers last May.

However, the agitation programme did not affect the regular banking activities as it started at the bank’s head office at 5 pm on Monday.

One of the main demands is that officers should not be brought in to the TGB from the sponsor bank with high salary allowances.

The bank authorities are looking to bring in a total of ten Scale-IV officers from the sponsor bank – Punjab National Bank.

At present, the process of bringing five people has been completed. Three have already arrived and their salaries and allowances have to be borne by the bank.

Although there are qualified officers in this position in the bank, the authorities are depriving them and bringing officers from the sponsor banks and incurring higher expenditure.

Eligible officers of Bank Head Office who toiled hard to put the TGB as one of the leading Rural Regional Banks in the country, are being posted outside the Head Office.

The employees of Tripura Grameen Bank at all levels are up in protest against the attempt to bring in officers from the sponsor bank, completely depriving the officers and staff whose tireless efforts have made Tripura Grameen Bank stand on a solid foundation today.

According to experts, the socio-economic development of Tripura may also be affected due to the induction of sponsor bank officials undermining the local Officers.
