The Tripura government has made a significant decision to recognize the dedicated efforts of sanitation workers (Safai Karmi) in keeping the state clean. These workers will now be officially designated as ‘Frontline Health Workers’ in order to honour their invaluable contribution.
Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, took to social media to announce the decision, highlighting the government’s commitment to providing essential support to these workers.
The move to classify sanitation workers as Frontline Health Workers aims to bring numerous benefits to these individuals. It includes the provision of essential protective gear and equipment to ensure their safety while carrying out the crucial task of disposing of hazardous waste.
Moreover, the government is determined to ensure that these workers receive necessary immunizations, recognizing the risks associated with their line of work.
This decision not only reflects the government’s gratitude towards the sanitation workers, who have played a pivotal role during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic but also acknowledges their day-to-day responsibilities in maintaining cleanliness.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his admiration for the contribution made by Sanitary Frontline Workers, not only in Tripura but also in other places affected by the pandemic. He described this initiative as a pioneering step towards uplifting the weaker and marginalized sections of society.
This decision recognizes the unsung heroes who contribute significantly to the betterment of society.
In addition to recognizing the efforts of sanitation workers, the Tripura state government has approved the construction of staff quarters at various healthcare centers across different districts.
This development initiative aligns with the government’s vision of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” (Collective Efforts, Inclusive Development) and aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the state. The Chief Minister believes that sustained efforts in this direction will yield positive results and greatly benefit both the general public and healthcare workers.
The Chief Minister expressed his confidence that the approximate cost of Rs 1688.62 lakhs for this infrastructure development will be helpful in improving healthcare infrastructure which will not only serve the welfare of the community but also contribute to enhancing healthcare services in Tripura.
