Blood saves a life, so to ensure an adequate supply of blood in the blood bank and to meet medical emergencies, I urge all the NGOs, Government and non-Government organizations as well as people to come forward and organize more blood donation camps, said ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday.
The Minister inaugurated a seven-day voluntary blood donation camp organized by the NSS Unit of Birendra Nagar High School, at Jirania under West Tripura District today. Starting from today, the camp will continue up to February 27 next.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “Our main goal should be to inspire, encourage and be proactive in humanitarian activities through blood donation. We need to ensure the availability of blood in the blood banks to meet the urgent medical needs of the patients. For this, more such blood donation camps need to be organized”.
Chowdhury hailed the organizers for the initiative as well as thanked the donors who voluntarily donated blood in the camp.
The ICA Minister said, “I thank all those who have donated blood today and registered their names to donate blood in this seven-day long camp. I wish them a bright future and healthy life”.
He continued and said, “I expect this camp will inspire people of all sections including school and college students to come forward to discharge their social responsibilities and donate blood to save lives”.
Among others, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Jirania Jiban Krishna Acharya, Jirania Nagar Panchayat chairman Ratan Das, school headmaster Shankar Saha, other teachers and students of the school were present.
