A significant number of job aspirants who qualified the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) Assembled at the Agartala City Centre on Sunday. They were seeking the intervention of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha over the ‘delay’ in the recruitment process.

The JRBT qualified job seekers demanded that the government complete the recruitment process by July 2023, as per the notification published in 2020.

Last year, the JRBT conducted an examination to fill 4910 vacant posts under Group-C and Group-D in August 2021. More than 24,000 candidates were shortlisted for the recruitment process. However, the job seekers expressed concern over the delay in the recruitment process and accused the government of not taking the matter seriously.

According to one of the job seekers, the recruitment process was put on hold due to the State Assembly elections on February last. “Now that the election results have been declared, we are demanding the government to resume the recruitment process and provide the job seekers with justice”, a job aspirant said and added that they are not here to beg for jobs but to seek employment based on their merits, without any political bias or intervention.

“We have cleared the JRBT examinations and qualified for recruitment. The government should take necessary steps to recruit us for the vacant posts”, the job aspirants said.

Clarifying their stand, the aggrieved job aspirants said, “We have nothing to do with politics. We are demanding Chief Minister’s intervention to give us justice”.

The JRBT is responsible for recruiting candidates for various government posts, and a delay in the recruitment process can have significant consequences for both the job seekers and the government. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to the aspirants’ demands and ensure a fair and efficient recruitment process for all the successful aspirants, opined a veteran journalist.
