Khumulwng Hospital is set to get Telemedicine treatment facility soon with the involvement of the Apollo Group. The new facility will usher a new dawn for the health care delivery system in TTADC areas, said Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Wednesday.
“People will enjoy the privileges of the Telemedicine treatment at Khumulwng Hospital. Patients will be able to communicate the health experts of the Apollo Group. This is a new beginning for Khumulwng Hospital”, Debbarma said on Wednesday.
He met the members of the Apollo Group and officially confirmed starting the Telemedicine facility in Khumlwng Hospital.
Sources said, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma along with others held a meeting with MD of Apollo Group Dr Sangeetha Reddy in Mumbai Apollo Centre on Wednesday. After the meeting decision to launch the service was finalized and duly signed.
Even as the Telemedicine facility in Agartala and sub-divisions including ADC areas is available; the facility at Khumulwng will accrue benefits to many patients. TIPRA Motha chairman was trying to uplift health delivery system in Khumulwng Hospital and already a team of Apollo Group visited the Hospital and held talks with TTAADC authority.
The first telemedicine network was inaugurated in 2005 in Tripura. The facility was installed at GB Hospital and IGM Hospital in Agartala as well as at five other nodal centers like Amarpur Sub-divisional Hospital, Kanchanpur Sub-divisional Hospital, Gandachhera Sub-divisional Hospital, Chailenghta Sub-divisional Hospital and Kathalia Primary Health Center.
On the second and the third telemedicine projects the facility was further extended covering the Regional cancer Centre in Agartala as well as several other District Hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals and Community Centers.
The major disciplines covered under this service are medicine, radiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, gynecology, surgical, dermatology, etc.
Once telemedicine facility becomes operational at Khumulwng Hospital, several specialist consultations and treatment facilities will be available to people.
