Fire near CNG station sparks panic in Khowai
Khowai town area had a close shave as fire broke out near the CNG station on the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday. A group of youth while returning after attending a marriage programme, noticed flames around 5-7 meters away from the CNG station.
Power transmission lines near the CNG have made it more dangerous in case of a fire incident.
The youth contacted the night guard of the CNG station and also made calls to the Fire Service – as no one was picking up the calls, youth rushed to the Fire Service Station and informed them about the fire incident. Soon, Firemen reached the spot and doused the flames.
If youths would not notice the fire and take right steps, Khowai town would have witness a devastating fire incident.
“It is good that youths noticed fire and informed the Fire Service, otherwise fire would engulf the entire town. With electric transmission lines are around the CNG Station, a fire would spread quickly and controlling the fire would have been a daunting task”, commented Khowai residents.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, the fire incident sparked panic and tension.
