A seminar marking the 15-day celebration for International Women’s Day was held on February 21 at the Meghlipara Panchayat Hall, West Tripura District.
The event was organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK) and Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK), focusing on women from the Meghlipara Tea Garden.
The initiative is part of VYK’s collaborative efforts to promote women’s empowerment across India over the next two weeks. The seminar at Meghlipara, facilitated by YVK, is the starting point of this national endeavor.
Miss Charu IAS, Deputy Collector of West Tripura District Administration, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the significant role of women in society.
The program was inaugurated by Biswajit Shil, Chairman of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti, with guests including Adv. Sameer Ghosh, Chairman of TTDC, Amit Nadi, Social Worker, Santanu Datta, BDO of Old Agartala RD Block, Ajay Biswas, Panchayat Pradhan, Anupam Debnath, and Debashis Majumder, president of YVK.
Pratima Debbarma, Sujay Majumder, and Hema Chowdhury led the program, which aimed to provide a dialogue platform for women tea garden workers to discuss their experiences and learn about rights and opportunities.
The event is expected to be followed by various activities and workshops throughout the 15-day celebration.
“The day was filled with engaging dialogues, personal narratives, and enlightening discussions about rights and opportunities, setting the tone for the forthcoming days brimming with diverse activities and workshops”, organizers said.
