Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has urged clubs and Puja committees to organize the Durga Puja festival following government guidelines. In a meeting organized by the Jirania Subdivision Administration at the Jirania Panchayat Samiti Auditorium on Monday, the Tourism Minister made this appeal to various clubs and Puja committees in the context of the upcoming Durga Puja.
Sushanta Chowdhury said in the meeting that the government would not tolerate extortion or forceful collection of donations by stopping vehicles on the roads. He also emphasized that clubs and Puja committees should take initiatives to raise awareness among the public about controlling noise pollution and the dangers of addiction.
The Subdivision Administration must ensure that the idol immersion during Vijayadashami is carried out in an orderly manner.
In the meeting, Animesh Dhar, the Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jirania, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Krishna Kalai discussed the government guidelines for Durga Puja.
Present at the meeting were Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, Jirania Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ratan Kumar Das, Ranirbazar Municipal Council Chairperson Aparna Shukladas, Vice-Chairperson of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Shil, Zilla Parishad members Manju Das and Shibayan Das, Jirania Block BDO Tushar Alam, Old Agartala Block BDO Shantanu Dutta, prominent social worker Gauranga Bhowmik, among others.
Representatives of various clubs and Puja committees of the subdivision, as well as officials from related departments, were also present at the meeting.
The State Government accorded importance in controlling the forceful donation collection and is repeatedly urging the Puja organizers to refrain from collecting donations from the vehicles running on roads. Also the Government is focusing to reduce sound pollution during the festival time.
