The Advisor of the Union Home Ministry of North Eastern Region, AK Mishra, met Chief Minister of Tripura Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha in a courtesy meeting at the Secretariat in Agartala on Monday afternoon. 

The issue of overall development of the state’s tribal groups and the state government’s initiatives to address their problems took precedence in the discussion between the two.

In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, “We discussed various issues at length related to overall development of our Janajati Communities. I also requested him to meet Janajati leaders of all Political parties including Janajati Samajpati so as to obtain a direct perception about the socio economical and infrastructural development aspects”.

According to a Government press release, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha highlighted the development schemes implemented by the state government in tribal areas, including roads, electricity, and drinking water, to the Advisor of the Union Home Ministry of North Eastern Region. Along with this, the Chief Minister also informed the Advisor, AK Mishra about the initiatives that the state government will take in the development of the indigenous people of the State in the future. 

The Chief Minister also suggested the Advisor to meet with the social leaders and representatives of the various indigenous groups of the state to get a first hand idea on the socio-economic development of different tribes of the State.

During the discussion, the Chief Minister said, “Development is the main mantra of this government. In the future too, the people of all castes and tribes will move the state forward by taking the path of this development.”
