With the initiative of the Agartala Club Forum and assistance from the Agartala Municipal Corporation and State Health Department first phase of club level Covid vaccination camp was organized in 19 clubs on Friday.
Agartala Club Forum which is already engaged in serving the Home Quarantined Covid Patients in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) area, made arrangements to hold Covid19 Vaccination camps near the doorsteps of the beneficiaries.
After multiple meetings the National Health Mission (NHM) and AMC Officials, the first phase of Vaccination camps were held in 19 clubs under the aegis of the State Health Department in AMC area on Friday. In these camps, 45+ years old persons received the first dose of the jab.
Also, Agartala Club Forum along with Khumulwng Press Club held similar immunization camp in association with the State Health Department at Khumulwng Press Club on Friday. Chief Executive Member (CEM) of TTAADC, Purna Chandra Jamatia, Executive Member (EM) Suhel Debbarma, MDC Runiel Debbarma, president and secretary of Khumulwng Press Club, Ashu Debbarma and Ranjit Debbarma respectively were present in the Vaccination camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Debbarma thanked the State Government and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who also holds Health Portfolio, for taking such an initiative for the benefit of the people including media persons. Debbarma also expressed gratitude to Joint Conveners of Agartala Club Forum, Pranab Sarkar and Sebak Bhattacharjee for arranging a Covid vaccination camp at Khumulwng.
According to Pranab Sarkar and Sebak Bhattacharjee, people participated in the designated camps in good numbers and around 2500 doses were administered in the first phase on Friday. At least three more such Vaccination camps will be held by May 31 next.
The objective of the drive is to ensure that left over persons get a chance to receive the first dose of the Covid vaccine in their locality. This is expected to encourage more people to get vaccinated, Sarkar and Bhattacharjee opined.
The Agartala Club Forum urged the remaining clubs to encourage people to get the jab so that no one is left out.
