CM stresses on increasing conviction rate  in CAW, Drug peddling

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb stressed upon the need for meting out deserved punishments on Crime Against Women (CAW) and on drug peddling.

He was addressing a virtual programme to mark the inauguration of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate’s Court and Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court at Sabroom on Saturday.

Deb said, “The rate of conviction in crime against women and drugs related cases needs to be increased so that the wrongdoers get punishment. At the same time, we have to keep an eye to protect the future generation from the threat of drugs.”

The Chief Minister also said that his government had already decided to introduce a Law University and the works for the proposed project would commence very soon.

In his speech, Deb also referred to the industrial infrastructure in Sabroom. He also detailed on State Government’s preparedness in fighting Covid 2.0 and the Black Fungus.

Chief Justice A.A. Kureshi along with other sitting judges of the High Court of Tripura, Law minister Ratanlal Nath, MLA Sankar Roy, Law secretary Biswajit Palit, Advocate General and Registrar General of the High Court of Tripura were present in the virtual programme.

 

State ready to fight Covid, Black Fungus 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said the state is ‘prepared’ to fight Black Fungus as well as handle the Covid 2.0.

The statement came from the Chief Minister on Saturday, a day after the first case of Black Fungus was reported. He was speaking to the media after attending a virtual programme at the Civil Secretariat.

He said the health infrastructures had fairly improved in the state since the first wave of COVID19. Expressing hope, Deb said the state would overcome this pandemic situation as well as defeat Black Fungus with cooperation from all sections of people.

“Since the first wave of coronavirus, we have improved the healthcare infrastructures in decentralized format.” Deb said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to maintain Covid appropriate behaviour and obey the guidelines as prescribed by the Health Ministry.
