An Eklavya School will be inaugurated in Gandachara under the Dhalai District of Tripura from next August. The school will initially operate from a portion of the building of the Pancha Ratan Duryodhan Para ITI Block Level Teacher Training Center in the subdivisional area, with classes starting from the 6th grade.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Wednesday visited the building of the Teacher Training Center to inspect it. He was accompanied by local MLA Nandita Debbarma Reang, MDC Bhoomikananda Reang, and administrative officials.

After the inspection, Minister Debbarma held a high-level meeting with administrative officials in the conference hall of the Teacher Training Center building. There, he handed over the Teacher Training building to the Tribal Welfare Department from the Education Department.

It is noteworthy that a new Eklavya School building is under construction on 12.8 acres of land near the Ultachara Bru Settlement Camp in the subdivision at a cost of approximately 22 crores.

The complex will include a school building, a separate dormitory for boys and girls, two warden buildings for the two hostels, a boundary wall, a playground, and other amenities.

The work started in January 2023. About 70% of the work has been completed so far. The remaining work is expected to be completed within a year. Once the school building is fully completed, the school will be shifted from the Teacher Training Center building to the new building, Minister Debbarma informed the media today.
