Tripura unit of CPM is in a spot of bother after an FIR was filed against three leaders including a sitting MLA of the Party.

 

Sources said, FIR was lodged against MLA Bhanu Lal Saha, Former MP Jitendra Chowdhury and Left Front Convener of Tripura, Bijan Dhar for posting provocative comments on social media.

 

Based on complaints, Bijan Dhar has already been summoned to appear before the Investigating Officer (IO), sources said and added, MP Jitendra Chowdhury is out of station and a process has been initiatied to get permission for prosecution of MLA Bhanu Lal Saha.

 

Meanwhile, State BJP unit strongly reacted to the comments made by the senior CPM leaders. Addressing a press meet BJP State general secretary Papia Datta alleged the CPM leaders were instigating party workers to take up arms to create disturbances in the State.

 

Notably, Bhanu Lal Saha in his social media account wrote to keep machetes, sticks and other such weapons at hand for self-defense – to confront invaders from outside. He also urged the youth to be prepared for confrontations.

 

Referring to that Saha was a former teacher, Papia Datta opined his statement in social media is an unbecoming of a teacher. She vehemently condemned the statement.

 

Bijan Dhar also made an appeal in his social account urging people to come forward against ‘attacks’ on CPM workers.  

 

Referring to the statements of CPM leaders, Papia Datta came down heavily on previous LEf regime. She said, their statements have made it clear that they ruled the State using such terror tactics. They have not shunned their old tactics, instead they are trying re-use it to grab the power by creating acrimony and disturbances in the State, Datta said and added that people of the would foil CPM’s such plot.

 

In the press conference, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty expressed hope that Police would take necessary steps against the concerned CPM leaders for making provocative statements in social media.
