The state government has on Monday launched a channel “Vande Tripura” with an aim to overcome the academic loss caused by the COVID19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has launched the channel in presence of Education Minister Ratanlal Nath at the Secretariat Video Conference Hall.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said, “The state government has taken 24 major decisions to improve the quality of education. And, now, the Vande Tripura channel has been launched to help the students in their learning amid this COVID19 pandemic.”
Deb said introduction of NCERT syllabus, change of academic year, introduction of centralized examination papers for all, Tripura Science and Mathematics Talent Search exams, Pre-board exam system, conversion of TBSE to CBSE and Bachhar Bachao, conversion of Bengali medium schools to English mediums, commencement of ‘Natun Disha’, Pre-primary education system, Chief Minister’s Meritorious Award, spoken English course, vocational education programme, Kokborok Sahitya Charcha, Workbook and Chief Minister’s Award for Academic Excellence were some of the important steps taken by the Government over the past three years
Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “Due to the present COVID-19 scenario, the schools remained closed for 14 months. Although the schools were reopened, they had to be closed again due to the rise in number of corona cases. To overcome this loss this new educational channel has been launched.”
He also said that earlier the government continued to provide education through several cable channels and mobile apps but due to various hurdles opening of the channel appeared much needed.
According to a government press release, this channel will broadcast educational discussions and other educational contents besides broadcasting teaching from primary to higher education. Currently the channel would be available in 90 percent areas of the state on GPTL cable network (Channel 982), Sristi Hathway cable network (Channel 327), JioTv and YouTube channel and other cloud networks.
