Assistance under DNA Club Project
The Tripura Biotechnology Council provides financial and technical assistance to schools for conducting scientific experiments. The Council has provided such assistance to more than 50 schools in the state through the DNA Club project for conducting science examinations.
During the financial year of 2022-23, 10 new schools in the state have already been provided with financial and technical assistance for the purchase of laboratory equipments and various practical experiments based on biological sciences, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.
As part of this, 10 schools included in 2019-20 FY and 2020-21 FY were provided with financial assistance for the second time to continue the work of DNA Club project.
During a programme at the conference hall of Tripura State Pollution Control Board ‘Letter of awards’ were handed over to the head of the 10 institutions for better performances, Dev Varma wrote.
Police nab youth with firearms, huge currencies
Police recovered a pistol along with 10- live bullets and currency of twelve countries from the procession of one youth at Western club area in Agartala on Wednesday.
The youth was identified as Taibur Rahman, a resident of Sonamura.
Acting on a tip-off the police detained the youth and during search police recovered the weapon along with live bullets from his procession, an officer on duty told reporters.
While recovery of arms itself is alarming, currencies of 12 countries in his possession raised suspicion and Rahman inviting attention of the security agencies.
Police registered a case under arms act against Rahman. Police had earlier seized a pistol from Rangutia in West District on Sunday late night.
