Fake currency: Two held
Two youths were arrested along with fake Indian currency worth Rs. 5 lakh near Karailong petrol pump in Teliamura sub-division on Saturday evening.
Based on secret information, Teliamura police along with the intelligence branch nabbed the two youths- Rakesh Molsom and Bajirai Reang, both residents of Taidu area, when they reached near the Karailang petrol pump to deliver the consignment to two others.
They were on a motorcycle (TR06-A-9270). Though police arrested the duo, the two others who went to receive the fake currencies managed to escape from the place, sensing police’s presence. Khowai district police superintendent Bhanupada Chakraborty rushed to Teliamura police station where the arrestees underwent interrogation.
The SP Khowai said, Teliamura police registered a case against the duo under sections 489(B)(C)/ 120(B) of IPC and initiated a probe. The motorcycle along with a car (TR01- Y-0268) was detained by police in this connection.
Contrabands: 3 arrested
Three youths were held along with contraband items from two separate places in the North Tripura district during the last 24 hours.
Churaibari police nabbed two youths with 720 bottles of phensedyl worth Rs. 336,000 from an Agartalabound vehicle on Saturday morning. The container vehicle, bearing DTDC signboard, was travelling from Guwahati to Agartala.
When the vehicle reached Churaibari Check-Post, police conducted a search and found 720 bottles of phensedyl in five containers along with DTDC goods.
Police detained the driver of the vehicle MujiburRahman (23) and assistant driver Saiful Mia (21), both residents of Santipur village in Milan Nagar of Assam’s GoalPara district, in this connection.
In another incident, Fire Service personnel rescued one youth in unconscious condition and recovered brown sugar and one syringe from his possession in Dharmanagar on Friday.
The youth- RanajitShil (23) of Kameshwar in Dharmanagar, reportedly became unconscious after taking drugs and fell down on the road from his scooty at the East Bazar area in Dharmanagar.
