Sabroom ICP: Construction works begin
Construction of the much-awaited Integrated Check-Post near the India-Bangladesh Maitri Bridge in Sabroom Sub-division under South Tripura has commenced on Thursday after a Bhumi Pujan ritual.
As per the plan, the check-post will be set up on 50,138 acres of land.
Sabroom, the southernmost part of Tripura, is expected to become the commercial capital of the state within the next few years with the proposed Special Economic Zone, Logistics Hub, and International Rail Link with Bangladesh connecting the South Tripura are on the cards.
Once deprived of various development activities, the place is now gradually turning into a business corridor to the entire Northeast region, as the Maitri Setu is all set to open new trade opportunities.
Meanwhile, some other important projects like Ayurvedic College and the International bus terminal are also in the pipeline.
Local MLA Shankar Roy, SDM Sabroom Debdas Debbarma, chairman of Land Port Authority of India, Aditya Mishra, Manager Debashish Nandi and others were present during the Bhumi Pujan.
Cong readying up to welcome Sudip, Ashish
Euphoria and apprehension are palpable among the Congress supporters as the Tripura Pradesh unit of the party is readying to welcome Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha who recently resigned from BJP MLAship as well as party membership and returned to Congress in New Delhi.
Tripura Pradesh Congress held a press meet to apprise the media about the programmes to be held in Agartala after Roy Barman and Saha arrive in Agartala on January 12 next.
Congress leader Manik Deb said, in presence of the Pradesh Congress chief Birajit Sinha and in-charge of the State unit Ajay Kumar, a programme will be held to accord a grand reception to Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Saha.
Manik Deb also claimed other BJP leaders who were with Roy Barman in Delhi would be joining Congress. Activists from other political parties – especially from Trinamool Congress – are also expected to join the Pradesh Congress.
Addict son beats mother
A rickshaw puller thrashed his mother after she refuge to give him money to buy liquor. The incident occurred at AD Nagar in Agartala on Thursday.
Kartik Saha, a rickshaw puller is addicted to drinking liquor. Even as he earns, Kartik frequently asks for money from his family members. On Thursday, he asked his mother, Anjali Saha to give him some money for drinking liquor.
However, his mother denied it. This irked Kartik and he brutally thrashed his mother. Anjali Saha’s husband rushed her to the GB Hospital. Family sources said, the health condition of Anjali Saha is serious.
