Tower on Jote land: Villagers protest

A section of indigenous communities demonstrated protest against installing a tower for Power Grid on a jote land. The incident occurred at Chatraifung area near Kaluadhepa school at Banduar in Udaipur on Friday. As resentment was palpable, Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

According to sources, initiatives were taken by the Power Grid to install a tower on land owned by one Jadu Debbarma at the Chatraifung area. Irked at the initiative, Jadu Debbarma along with the local indigenous people started protesting against the initiative.

Meantime, Police reached the area and quelled the tension by assuring the agitating villagers that the matter would be brought to the notice of the District Magistrate. 

 

Pranajit opens seed processing unit, Rural Mkt

A seed processing unit was inaugurated by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare department Pranajit Singha Roy at East Mirza under Kakraban in Udaipur on Friday.

Among others, social activists, Abhishek Debroy, Jiten Majumder, vice chairman of Kakraban Panchayat Samiti Sudhir Majumder, Deputy Director of the Horti department Dipankar Deb, Superintendent of Kakraban Agri subdivision Raju Majumder and other dignitaries were present in the programme.

Besides, Pranajit Singha Roy also inaugurated a Primary Rural Market at Kushamara under Kakraban on Friday in presence of chairperson of Kakraban Panchayat Supriya Saha and others.

 

Linking Ration card with Aadhar: Officials inspect

Along with the entire state, works for linking Ration cards with Aadhar cards are going on in full swing at every Ration shop in Kalyanpur area. As part of the ongoing activities, Food Controller of Teliamura Sub-division Subhankar Chowdhury and Food Inspector Butatu Debbarma toured different areas in Kalyanpur on Friday.

Speaking to the media, Chowdhury said initiatives have been taken to provide Smart Ration Card and the process for linking Ration Card with Aadhar Card will continue till April 30 next. He urged people to step forward in the initiative to modernize the rationing system.

However, in some cases, consumers with erroneous Aadhar cards are facing trouble in linking it with the Ration cards, locals said.
