10 yrs on: Culvert in half-done condition
Construction works of a box culvert at Taichakma ADC Village under Ampi started during the Left regime but were left in half-done condition. Since then, 10 years elapsed, but the construction works never completed till now. At present, there exists a huge gap between the culvert and the approach road – which during dry season pedestrians can negotiate. However, during the rainy season, it becomes precarious and accidents may happen at any time.
Situated along with the Baramohi Para to Bhimchandra Para road, the incomplete culvert has put villagers in trouble, particularly during the rainy season, said one Bijoy Debbarma.
He also said villagers appealed to concerned authority several times during the last 10 years in vain.
Debbarma also said, “Villagers returning home from markets with goods face trouble in crossing the bridge.”
No vehicles even a bicycle cannot cross this box culvert as there is no approach road and there exists a big gap between the road and the culvert. As per the villagers around 42 families of the locality are facing more troubles for the incomplete box culvert.
Importantly, villagers face serious troubles when they have to take a pregnant woman or critical patient to hospital at night.
