Serious resentment among the guardians of students of Udaipur English Medium School in Tripura is palpable. The School consistently ranked among the top schools in the state with excellent results each year, experienced a dramatic reversal of fortune in this year’s CBSE exams.
According to reports, 221 students were scheduled to take the Madhyamik (10th grade) exam this year, but 220 appeared. Of these, 195 passed and 25 received compartmental grades. In the Higher Secondary (12th grade) exam, 203 students appeared, 172 passed, 21 received compartmental grades, and 10 failed.
The results at a prestigious school sparked anger among the parents. They allege that some teachers were more focused on private tuition than on their school duties, leading to a decline in results.
When questioned about the teachers’ private tuition, the school’s headmistress said that she had received written agreements from the teachers that they would not engage in private tuition. She added that she would take action if any evidence of such activity was found.
Special Coaching for CBSE Compartmental Students
Meantime, a meeting was held at the Dharmanagar Bir Bikram Institution with teachers, parents, and students who appeared for the Madhyamik and HS +2 exams in CBSE for the first time and received compartmental grades. The meeting focused on various important topics.
Dharmanagar Bir Bikram Institution’s Principal, who is also the In-charge Dharmanagar Sub-division School Inspector, Ranju Sharma, announced that special coaching would be provided to all CBSE compartmental students starting next Monday, May 20th. These coaching classes will continue until the exam.
He said many students who took the CBSE Board exam for the first time this year were unable to comprehend the question paper, which is why they received compartmental grades.
