Senior IPFT leader attacked, hospitalized
Another senior leader of IPFT – an ally of ruling alliance in Tripura – came under attack in Tripura on Sunday.
Close on heels of recent attacks on IPFT supremo NC Debbarma, party’s vice-president Krishna Kanta Jamatia was attacked and his house was vandalized today, local sources said.
A group of miscreants believed to be supporters of TIPRA Motha on Sunday launched an attack on the residence of IPFT vice-president Krishna Kanta Jamatia. In the attack, Jamatia was injured seriously. The incident took place at Killa under Udaipur in Tripura.
IPFT supporters said, “TIPRA motha has become intolerant after the ADC poll victory. They are now trying to wipe out opposition which is a dangerous tendency for the democratic culture of the state. The attack on senior leader like Jamatia is only a part of their anti-opposition strategy”.
Soon the news spread, and police from Killa police station rushed to the spot and succeeded to defuse the tension.
BJP MLA Rampada Jamatia and other senior BJP leaders also went to the area. Injured Jamatia was admitted to Killa Primary Health Centre. An FIR was lodged with the Killa police station in connection with the incident.
Miscreants burn Upa Pradhan’s car
Some miscreants set afire the car of ruling party leader and Upa Pradhan of Bhagyapur Panchayat at the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday. According to sources, Upa Pradhan, Gobinda Nath kept the car (Hundai Extend) in his own garage.
However, he woke up after hearing the sound of the emergency door of the car at about 1: 15 a.m. Immediately he rushed out of his room and noticed flames in the back side of the car. Both the rear wheels were burning. At once he brought water from a pond and tried to douse the fire. On being informed police led by SI Dayal Chakma visited the spot. Police are investigating the case.
