Three new members of the Tripura cabinet were felicitated by BJP state unit on Wednesday. The newly inducted members took oath on August 31 at Raj Bhavan in Agartala.
BJP’s central observer for Tripura Vinod Sonkar, state president Dr. Manik Saha and general secretary Kishore Barman among others were present in the felicitation programme.
After being felicitated, all the three ministers– Ram Prasad Paul, Bhagaban Das and Sushanta Chowdhury promised that they would work together for an all-round development of the state.
Chowdhury, MLA from Majlishpur constituency and one of the youngest members of the state cabinet, got the portfolios of all-important Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department, Youth Affairs and Sports and PWD (DWS).
“ICA department is the face of the government. I thank the Chief Minister and party president for vesting the responsibility upon me. The department will emphasize on promoting the government’s welfare activities,” Chowdhury told the media.
The two other ministers- Ram Prasad Paul and Bhagaban Das were also found to be happy with the portfolios given by Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
While Paul has been assigned to look after Home (Jail, Fire and Emergency Services), OBC Welfare and Minorities Welfare departments, Das who secured his cabinet berth from Unakoti district has been given the portfolios of Animal Resources Development, Labour and SC Welfare departments.
Das said that the government was focusing on building Swanirbhar Tripura and to achieve the goal, the Animal Resources Development Department had a major role to play in rural areas. He also said that the department would work to generate employment scopes to the people.
