Disgruntled students have blocked the National Highway at Ambassa on Monday demanding that all the Madhyamik candidates be promoted. Students were demanding the Board to take prompt action for the promotion of all the candidates.

Resentment among a section of students was brewing after the TBSE announced Madhyamik results on July 31 last and the pass percentage was a little over 80 percent.

Immediately after the results were declared, students in Teliamura blocked the National Highway at Ampi Choumuhani on July 31 – they also raised demand for promotion for all students.

On Monday, students of Chandrai Para HS +2 School and Jaharnagar Colony High School assembled near Kamalpur Choumuhani and staged a road blockade on Assam-Agartala National Highway.

Speaking to the media, one of the students of Chandrai Para HS +2 School said, “We are demanding that all the students should be promoted. Evaluation on the basis of pre-metric examination is not logical as after pre-metric  exam, we come know in which subjects we are lagging behind and can devote time to improve before sitting in the Madhyamik exams. However, we missed this opportunity this year as no exams were held due to Corona situation”.

As we did not get a chance to improve our marks in subjects in which we poorly performed, it will be an injustice to include those subjects into consideration for promotion. We are demanding that the TBSE should promote all the students for the interests of our future, agitating students said.

As reported, similar road blockades were held at few other places and demand for ‘promotion for all’ was raised.

On July 31, students at Ampi Choumuhani also raised similar arguments and demands while administration was asking them to lift the road blockade.

Meanwhile, NSUI threw its weight behind the students. NSUI leader while supporting the demand of the students said students across the State would hit street, if TBSE does not promote all the Madhyamik candidates.
