The 132nd birth anniversary of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was observed with due sincerity and dignity in Tripura on Thursday.

A programme was held in front of the iconic Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala today. State’s SC Welfare Minister Bhagaban Das and MP Rebati Tripura were present there and offered tributes at a bust of Dr Ambedkar.

Speaking to the media, Minister Das said week-long programmes have been planned this year to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar.

In a social media post Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb wrote, “Humble tributes to the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji on his Jayanti.

The works done by him for the upliftment of marginalised communities will remain an inspiration for generations to come.”

Several organizations including the ruling BJP organized programmes to observe the day. A tribute offering programme in BJP headquarters was held in which party’s state president Dr Manik Saha along with Mayor of Agartala Dipak Majumder, vice president of the State party Rajiv Bhattacharjee, general secretary Tinku Roy and SC morcha leaders paid floral tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar.

As part of the observance Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Dr Manik Saha took part in Swachhata Abhiyan at Kasem Ali Junior Basic School in Hrishi Colony in Agartala today.

He and other leaders distributed leaflets on Dr Ambedkar’s life and several developmental initiatives of the State SC Welfare Department.

Tripura Scheduled Caste coordination Samiti also observed the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar near City Center in Agartala.
