Union Minister of State (MoS) for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik met the Dharmanagar Municipality Council members, interacted with street vendors and exchanged views with the media persons in Dharmanagar on Friday.

On her interaction with the street vendors, Bhoumik tweeted, “I interacted with some of the street vendors who availed of the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana (PMSY). All of them thanked the Prime Minister for introducing the scheme during the Corona pandemic”.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries received a loan worth Rs 10 thousand. After loan repayment, the beneficiaries would be able to take another loan of Rs 20 thousand and later, Rs 50 thousand, the MoS pointed out.

She also said a total of 1200 street vendors availed of the benefits of the Yojana in Dharmanagar. The MoS also discussed the implementation of PMSY with the Dhamanagar Municipality Council members.

While interacting with the media persons in Dharmanagar, Pratima Bhoumik highlighted various social security and welfare initiatives of the Government. She was accompanied by BJP Prabhari of the North District Sajal Acharjee.

Underscoring government initiatives to make women and youths of the State to become self-reliant, she mentioned the role of the SHGs and co-operatives. She told the media she is working to set up a District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) in North District and the district is likely to get the centre soon.

She urged the NGOs to extend help for the welfare of the Divyangas.

The MoS exuded confidence that the country would emerge as a top country in the world under the leadership of the PM Modi.
