Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress vented anger at the State Police administration for lathi-charge on peaceful demonstrators who were demanding jobs after successfully clearing related exams.
Vehemently criticising the Police, State president of the Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress Pijush Kanti Biswas along with Party’s MP Sushmita Dev placed a deputation to the Chairperson of the State Human Rights Commission on Wednesday (Dec 14).
Biswas alleged, Human rights in Tripura are at stake as Police are beating the male-female job aspirants without showing any compassion. He also blamed the Government for remaining tight lipped over high hardness of Police repeatedly.
The silence of the government indicates police are playing at the behest of the government, he alleged.
The deputation programme by the Trinamool Congress came up in the wake of recent lathi charge by the Tripura Police on qualified STGT job aspirants who gheraoed Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence demanding immediate recruitment.
Police, to disperse the agitators resorted to lathi charge in which some of the agitating job aspirants were injured.
Pijush Kanti Biswas, also a renowned lawyer raked up the issue of Police high hardness and placed a deputation before the State Human Rights Commission today.
In the run up to the 2023 Assembly Polls in Tripura, Trinamool Congress is trying woo the support of axed 10323 teachers and STGT job aspirants and create public opinion against the ruling BJP.
Speaking to the media, Sushmita Dev too blamed police for its role and said, police is responsible for public safety but here, police are beating peaceful agitators.
Ironically, similar Police action against TET teachers in Kolkata couple of months ago was reported and opposition party targetted Mamata Banerjee led government with the same allegations
