Tripura : Reactions of Opposition parties after Biplab Kumar Deb resigned

The resignation of Biplab Kumar Deb from the Chief Minister’s drew a sharp reaction from the main Opposition Party in Tripura, CPM while leaders of other political parties opined that Deb stepped down as his party understood that BJP would not win in the upcoming Tripura Assembly Polls.

Reacting to Deb’s sudden resignation, CPM State secretary of Tripura, Jitendra Chowdhury said it is a strategic step to divert people’s attention from the activities of the ‘fascist-like government.

“Changing the Chief Minister less than a year before the Assembly Polls demonstrates the utter weakness of the Government and its organization”, CPM State secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said.

Chowdhury claimed one of the prime reasons that prompted the decision was Government’s failure in fulfilling the pre-poll promises. The Government was anti-people.

He alleged BJP started a one-party autocratic ruling in Tripura and sensing people’s discontent, the Party has decided to change the Chief Minister – this is a strategic step as people have lost confidence in the government, Chowdhury commented.

Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders were not available for comment as they were away to attend party’s central programme – Chintan Shivir. However, some of the leaders posted video clip of a chaotic scene in which a Minister was seen throwing tantrums.

Meantime a section of Congress workers burst crackers in front of the Congress Bhavan in Agartala – however, no one revealed the reason.

Commenting on Deb’s stepping down, Trinamool Congress leaders commented that the writing on the wall is clear and BJP will not win in the next Assembly Polls. TMC leaders claimed BJP was forced to change the Chief Minister because of its utter failure.
