Tripura is set to undergo a paradigm shift in the IT sector with the government’s initiative to set up a state-of-the-art Data Centre.

 

For setting up of the proposed Data Centre, A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IT department, CSC and NIXI SPV, Chief Secretary Kumar Alok wrote in social media.

 

A tweet from the Chief Secretary on Tuesday read, around Rs. 150 crore is likely to be invested in this project.

 

“Today CSC and NIXI SPV have signed an Agreement with the IT department to set up a data centre at Agartala. Approximately Rs 150 Cr is likely to be invested by CSC and NIXI SPV in this project,” he tweeted Tuesday night.

 

The Tripura cabinet had approved the investment proposal of CSC SPV to set up a data centre in Agartala in partnership with NIXI in December last year. The proposed Data Centre is expected to open new opportunities for private investment in the IT sector.

 

Earlier, the Tripura government also launched ‘Tripura Data Center Policy-2021’ to encourage the IT and ITES industry in the state.

 

An official release said, the NIXI-CSC Data Services Limited agreed to make significant investments (up to Rs. 150 crore) over a period of 7 years for this esteemed project.

 

According to the release, the initiative would help generate employment and would have a ripple effect on encouraging the growth of IT entrepreneurs and Startups. It will also lead to the growth of allied industries and give a boost to the economy of the state, especially in the IT Sector.
