The days are not far when tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy adventure tourism in Tripura. The Tripura government has initiated a massive plan to develop adventure tourism with an aim to attract more tourists.
An officer privy to the development said that Jampui, Unakoti, Dumboor, Chakmaghat and Chabimura are now in focus of the Tourism department for transforming the sites into adventure tourism destinations.
The officials concerned have already made visits to the sites for studying the requirements and adventure potentials of the identified sites.
Meanwhile, the proposal was discussed in length during a review meeting of the Tourism department recently. The meeting was chaired by Tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
According to official sources, the Tourism minister appreciated the plan of developing adventure tourism destinations.
As proposed, the identified sites will have Adventure Park and other facilities. However, the final decision is yet to be taken.
Meanwhile, the Tourism department is contemplating a plan to introduce Kayaking at Chabimura, the Amazon of Tripura. A demonstration on Kayaking was already performed by the members of Neermahal Adventure Club and Mountaineering Foundation.
An official of the Tourism department feels that Kayaking in the state’s one of the most popular tourist sites Chabimura amid lush green nature would give the tourists a unique experience with a feel like heaven. Chabimura features thrills of adventure, archaeological wonder through forest water safari and so on. In that case, Kayaking, if introduced, would be an additional attraction for the tourists.
