The state has a lot of potential for the development of the tourism industry. The tourism industry of Tripura will develop further under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team and the brand ambassador of tourism of Tripura, commented Tourism Minister of the State Sushanta Chowdhury while speaking at the Exchange of Agreement ceremony at Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala on Monday.
The Tourism Minister welcomed Sourav Ganguly, the brand ambassador of tourism, and said that he hoped that the journey of the former Indian cricket captain with the tourism of Tripura would be smooth.
Chowdhury further said, “Sourav Ganguly is the pride of our country. He accepted the offer to become the brand ambassador of tourism of Tripura as soon as it was made to him a few months ago.”
The Tourism Minister informed the media that former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly would start working to showcase Tripura’s tourism to the whole world from tomorrow. He expressed hope that this work will progress very successfully.
In a press conference at Ujjayanta Palace this evening, Sourav Ganguly expressed his satisfaction over the Tripura government nominating him as the brand ambassador. Sharing his feelings about visiting Tripura, Ganguly said that he had come to Tripura to play for the first time in 1988. It is a great thing to become the brand ambassador of the tourism of this state after 35 years.
Thanking Chief Minister of Tripura Professor (Dr) Manik Saha and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury for giving him this responsibility, he said that he would make all efforts to showcase the tourism of this state to the country and the world.
Describing Agartala as a very beautiful city at the press conference, Ganguly said, “It feels very good to see such a beautiful palace. The beauty, history, and culture of this place will attract everyone.”
He said that the Northeast region is the pride of India. There is a lot of talent hidden here. The former Indian skipper said if he is asked for extending his help in the development of cricket in Tripura along with tourism, he will try his best to do so.
Ganguly said, “Cricket is an emotion in India. The small hill state of Tripura has also made a lot of progress in the field of cricket. He expressed hope that in the future, big-scale cricket tournaments will be organized in this state.
He said, “If international matches can be played in Guwahati, why not here?” For this, he emphasized the completion of the construction of the under-construction cricket stadium. He also expressed happiness that he could use his cricket experience in Tripura cricket.
Sourav Ganguly, the brand ambassador of tourism of Tripura, said, “There are many similarities between Bengal and Tripura. Especially the language and culture are almost the same. Naturally, the joy of working with this state is different.”
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and Tripura Cricket Association president Tapan Lodh welcomed him at Ujjayanta Palace today. At the event, an Exchange of Agreement took place between Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Brand Ambassador Sourav Ganguly. The event was attended by Tourism Department Secretary UK Chakma, Tourism Department Director Tapan Kumar Das, and others.
