A Mega Blood Donation Camp was organised on Friday at Radhanagar Motor Stand in Agartala under the initiative of Radhanagar Motor Stand Development Society.

Transport Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the blood donation camp.

Inaugurating the camp, the Transport Minister said there is no alternative to blood donation. We can fulfill our social responsibility by donating blood and saving the lives of critically ill patients.

We do not know who will need the blood collected from the owners and workers of vehicles in this program. But those who have come forward for the welfare of the society without knowing it are actually fulfilling their social responsibility.

More than 100 people donated blood in this mega blood donation camp today.

After the inaugural ceremony of the mega blood donation camp, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury participated in a free helmet distribution program in front of Radhanagar Motor Stand.

200 helmets were distributed to pedestrians, journalists and general public under the road safety awareness program organized by the Transport Department.

Inaugurating the blood donation camp, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury further said that Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha is calling upon all healthy and strong people to come forward and donate blood in various programs. Because at present the supply of blood is less than the demand in the state. Therefore, it is necessary for people of all walks of life to come forward to donate blood keeping in mind the social duty.

He said that since 2014, there has been unprecedented development in the road, rail and air transport system of the state. Many steps have already been taken to start water transport system. At present the transport system of the state has improved a lot. The role of the owners and workers associated with this system in making the transport system strong and strong is undeniable. Today they have taken one more step forward by organizing a blood donation program here.

The Transport Minister further said in the program that the present government is anti-drug. To stop the consumption and sale of intoxicating substances, along with the government and administration, the general public will also have to come forward.

The program was attended by Tripura Road Transport Corporation Chairman Balai Goswami, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor-in-Council Hiralal Debnath, Corporator Santana Saha, Tripura Road Transport Corporation MD Uttam Mandal, Traffic SP Manik Das, Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das and other guests.
