Tripura unit of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has threatened to paralyze the State administration in January 2023 if the demands of axed 10323 teachers and the STGT qualified job aspirants are not met.
A group of axed 10323 teachers are holding hunger strike for over last 54 days demanding their jobs back. They lost the job as per the verdict of the High Court of Tripura which the Apex Court upheld.
The STGT qualified job aspirants are holding agitations almost on regular basis demanding immediate recruitment as the validity of results for the job would expire soon.
Police lathi charged on the agitating STGT candidates who gheraoed the residence of State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on December 12. This drew sharp criticism from the opposition parties.
In the run up to the 2023 Assembly Polls in Tripura, newly appointed state president of TMC, Tripura unit Pijush Kanti Biswas – an eminent senior advocate of the State – racked up the issues of 10323 teachers and the agitating STGT candidates.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday (Dec 13), Biswas said BJP promised, prior to 2018 Assembly Polls, to re-instate the terminated teacher if they were voted into power. However, ruling BJP did not keep their promise and the retrenched teachers are in distress.
Among others, TMC MP Sushmita Dev and party’s State incharge Rajib Banerjee were present in the press meeting.
When the 10323 teachers’ group held demonstration, they were roughed up by the police. And, the STGT job aspirants are also facing similar situation as they were beaten up by police after they gheraoed the Education Minister’s residence.
“Trinamool Congress will give them all legal assistance, if they want”, Pijush Biswas said.
He also threatened that TMC activists would cripple the State administration in January 2023 unless demands of the axed 10323 and STGT were fulfilled.
Commenting on alleged bike borne miscreants of the ruling BJP, the TMC State president said if Police do not take action against the bike borne goons, he would show them how to put miscreants behind the bar legally.
Biswas claimed people are no longer with the BJP. As a result, ruling party is relying on bike force to win in the polls, Biswas alleged and urged people to have courage and be united against the BJP and CPIM.
Later voters of 105 families joined Trinamool Congress today.
