The 150th anniversary of the services of Tripura Police was observed by Vanghmun PS of Jampui Hill by organising a grand volleyball tournament at Behliangchhip village playground.
Four teams, namley Jampui Hill XII, Behliangchhip Branch YMA, Jampui Higher Secondary School Boys Hostel and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) teams competed in the event, with Jampui Hill XII team coming out as the champion after a hotly contested match with Behliangchhip Branch YMA team.
The competetion was professionally conducted under the ecxpert supervisions of three qualified Physical Instructors (PI).
The winner and runner up teams each received a trophy and sport goods, and the other teams received consolation prizes of fitness kits.
The trophies and prizes were given away by Nabarun Chakraborty, BDO (Jampui Hill), Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau (Hillcrest Medical Center), Inspector Budha Debbarma (OC Vanghmun PS), Sub-Inspector Sanjit Tripura (2nd OC Vanghmun PS) and Jagabasi Molsom (Superintendent, ST Boys Hostel).
One of the biggest achievements of Tripura Police during its 150 years of service has been in curbing insurgencies and bringing them into the mainstream society.
Another one is in maintaining peace and harmony in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society despite huge shortages of personel and grossly an uneven police:population ratio.
