Amidst growing incidents of Covid infection in Tripura, especially in West District, political activities are gaining momentum on every passing day.
After BJP’s Mandal Karyakarini meetings in Agartala and other parts of state and a rally of SFI-DYFI on Sunday, Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress announced, it will hold a 72 hours long Dharna in Agartala from July 18.
Youth Congress State president Rakhu Das, while addressing a press conference in Agartala today said, the Dharna agitation will be held protesting against ‘rising unemployment’ in Tripura.
Rakhu Das alleged that since after the formation of the BJP government in Tripura, the rate of unemployment had gradually gone up.
“When the previous Left front government was ousted, around 7 lakhs youth were unemployed in our state. After the BJP government assumed charges, the unemployment rate continued to grow and the government announced a battle against the youths of this state,” Das alleged.
He said that the 72 hours sit-in-demonstration of the Youth congress starting from July 18 would be held in support of 11-point demand list. The YC activists will demand the government to fulfil the posts lying vacant in various government departments, immediate recruitment of TET qualified teachers, bring a permanent solution for the axed 10,323 teachers and others.
The youth congress on Sunday also demanded investigation by the High Court Chief Justice on the recent TSR recruitment, which has witnessed massive corruption.
Former Chief Minister of the state Sameer Ranjan Barman, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, PCC president Birjit Sinha, and others will join the sit-in-demonstration in Agartala.
